State Department Expands Social Media Vetting

The State Department will expand online presence screening to additional visa categories beginning October 1, 2026. Applicants for I visas for foreign media representatives and TN and TD visas for USMCA professionals and their dependents will be instructed to make their social media profiles public for review. The screening already applies to several other visa categories, including F, J, H-1B, H-4, and K visas.
