DOL Plans Major PERM Overhaul

The Department of Labor plans to modernize the PERM labor certification process for the first time in more than 20 years. Proposed changes may include updated recruitment methods, stronger employer compliance requirements, and greater scrutiny of employers that recently conducted layoffs. Current PERM rules remain unchanged while the rulemaking process moves forward.
