USCIS has ordered officers to pause approvals on immigration cases until expanded FBI background checks are completed. Starting April 27, 2026, the agency will receive additional criminal history information for green card and naturalization applicants. Some pending applicants may also need to resubmit fingerprints if previous checks have expired.
